July Photoaday list with a twist!

Slide1Here’s the list for July folks…

And a twist, something new and a bit different to challenge you even more! Of course you can play along just like normal and post photos of the things listed, OR if you really a challenge, post photos of each thing IN THE SPECIFIED COLOR! See the “Red” box, the “white” box, and the “blue” box- each day in those boxes connected to that color. This will look awesome when you look at all your photos together (the month at a time view on 365.org will look amazing, if you’re posting to that site!) Anyway, there’s really no rules or policemen to see what you’re doing or not doing, and the main goal of this project is to take photos and tell stories and that’s really all we ask- have fun, make photographs, share with friends!  Thanks for playing along!  -girl.in.camo

Old Tire Swing…

Tire SwingI took a photography workshop over the weekend, with a great local photographer (www.jeffreystonerphotography.com) and I’m super motivated now. I’ve been editing almost every free second I’ve had. And this…this is probably the most editing I’ve ever done to a photo of mine. And I love it. Really, you could throw the Star Wars intro at it and say that “A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away” this was a photograph! Hehehe! For those who know me really well, you know how big a “SWING” this is for me who used to be soooooo anti-photoshop/editing/etc. I’m little by little (or in this case not-so-little) learning to embrace editing and I admittedly have come a long way. Here’s to learning new stuff!  -girl.in.camo

Towel

20130607-073347.jpg

Colossians 2:1 I want you woven into a tapestry of love…

I love love this towel, it was my Grandma Kirkebys, and I think it might be older than me, maybe from the 60’s…she used this pattern for the “walk-out” towel to wrap us up when we got out of the tub when we were little kids, and it eventually made its way to the towel bar for the “step-out” towel…but it stayed on her towel rack as long as I remember, even when she was in her assisted living apartment…After Robyn and I packed and cleaned up and moved her out of there on a crazy weekend two years ago, there was still a few towels left still hanging around. Robyn was gonna just throw them on the pile for goodwill, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it, so I brought a whole bunch of different styles home, some kitchen ones too…anyway, I used me as “packing” for the trip home and now they are at the very top of the linen closet, I get them out when Rodney gets Landon out of the bath when we babysit…so there is a whole new set of grand kid memories on the horizon, we have used it every time he is here…

I thought this picture might be interesting to someone at the Fieldcrest company, however after some research it appears they have been bought about 4 times…here is a little history…

I still buy this brand sometimes, always seem to be good quality and decent price…you can get them just about anywhere, however if only the originals will do, you can find some on Etsy.

noodles…

egg noodles

Last night I spent all my free time making my grandma Misialek’s handmade egg noodles…As they were drying out, I enjoyed a glass of wine and thought about how I would love to have one more day with her.She was such a great lady, as they dried out the second time I thought of all the things I would do with her on that one day and it made me think of the little things I would put on my bucket list if I could. I would like to wake up and make bread with her like she did several times a week and make toast topped with her homemade jam. Then maybe go weed and water her beautiful peonies and pansies. Then for lunch, I wouldn’t care what we ate as long as we had a bunch of her cherry preserves and lemonade. After the dishes we could play a game of wist or keno with grandpa and whoever happened to stop by that afternoon…After we relaxed a little we could have a beer and say our prayers and go to bed….So many memories, so much love.

Jeep Life

Today was the Jeepers day to take over the beach road.  The old Highway 87… It was high tide and we were in the water a little, the weeds a little, but over half the ride we were behind the pink jeep…I got such cool shots, but this was my favorite…
